You can make ending the genocide in Darfur a priority for the presidential candidates during the 2008 primary season! Sign up for Ask the Candidates Iowa Training and learn how and what to ask the presidential candidates about Darfur.

With the presidential primaries quickly upon us and capturing a majority of the media's attention, the space for stories on Darfur is quickly shrinking. As leading activists in the state of Iowa, we are relying on you to ensure that Darfur finds its way to the front page. We will provide you with the background and training to ask the presidential candidates, during debates and campaign events, what they intend to do about Darfur and how they will deal with issues of genocide and crimes against humanity if elected.

You will learn best practices for dealing with local print and online media, and you will network with other local activists to develop an action plan to make Darfur a priority for the candidates and the media. You will find out why foreign policy is important on a local level and the importance of speaking out as a global citizen.

The training will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Pappajohns Academy in Des Moines. If you cannot make it on Saturday, there will be on on make up session on Sunday, Sept. 9.

Don't know much about Darfur? Don't worry! This training is for beginners, old timers and everyone in between. To ensure that each participant gets the maximum benefit from the training, we will hold various workshops suited to each person's level of knowledge, interests and expertise.
